Why we fight.

We can now say, with the weight of the law behind us, that every American will finally be guaranteed high quality, affordable health care coverage.

This fight goes long beyond the year it took to bring this to fruition, to make health care for ALL the law of the land. This struggle is more than one hundred years, a fight taken up by many presidents over the course of that century, and by more than one congress...and this is about more than just health care reform.

This fight that we've finally won after long last, is about equal rights for every American regardless of station...this is about human rights. But make no mistake, this is just the beginning. The fight for equality goes on.

But tonight, for all Americans...we made history.

We did it. Each of us. All of us.

“Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane.”
-Martin Luther King Jr.
